WIA Applauds Advancement of Next Generation Telecommunications Act

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) today applauded the advancement of S.3014, which would establish the Next Generation Telecommunications Council, from the Senate Commerce Committee. This bipartisan legislation, sponsored by Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Ben Ryan Lujan (D-NM), John Thune (R-S.D.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), will help ensure the United States continues to lead the world in deploying next-generation broadband technology.

“WIA strongly supports the Next Generation Telecommunications Act, and we applaud the Senate Commerce Committee for moving this legislation forward,” said WIA Senior Vice President, Government and Public Affairs Matt Mandel. “There is no better way to ensure the U.S. remains the global leader in deploying future broadband networks, including 6G, than for Congress to work with experts in the industry to develop a national strategy in advance. I commend the bipartisan leadership and collective foresight of Senators Cortez Masto, Lujan, Thune, Wicker, and Schumer in sponsoring this legislation.”
