USTelecom Statement on FCC’s Title II Vote

Washington, D.C.— Today, the Federal Communications Commission voted on a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to reclassify broadband internet access service as a telecommunications service under Title II of the Communications Act.

The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO, USTelecom:

“Broadband providers have and always will support an open internet. But Title II is not the answer. Title II is, at its heart, a regulatory power grab. Mandating crushing regulatory hurdles will only delay rather than deliver the promise of universal connectivity.”
