USTelecom Recommends Solutions to Strengthening Robocall Mitigation

USTelecom weighed in with the FCC regarding tools and approaches to prevent bad actors from gaining indirect access to numbering resources in the Commission’s efforts against illegal robocalls. The Commission’s proposals would impose significant burdens on providers without addressing the root of the problem. USTelecom recommended that the FCC look to its robocall mitigation tools to address bad actors gaining access to numbers. Specifically, the Commission was urged to adopt existing and effective mechanisms for fighting illegal robocalls by implementing Know-Your-Customer and number trace requirements. This approach would ensure a more robust and cooperative framework for tracking down and preventing illegal robocalls.
