Adelstein: Wireless Included in Infrastructure Agreement

“Tonight’s Senate vote affirms the tradition of bipartisanship in telecommunications legislation and affirms Congress’ longstanding commitment to technological neutrality. The Senate negotiators heeded our call to adopt an all-of-the-above broadband strategy and explicitly supports ‘the deployment of 5G.’ By making wireless eligible for funding, the bill will get broadband to unserved communities more quickly – and it makes ‘expediency’ a priority, as I suggested at a recent Senate hearing,” said WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein.  “We urge the Senate to adopt this approach to provide rural Americans with mobility and resilient networks that serve public safety. The approach in the deal will get unserved Americans broadband sooner, and that will help the U.S. win the race to 5G.”
